Marlo is mobile, Anjun potty training!

As you can see in the video, Marlo is mobile.  And Anjuns fav spot is on his potty, he even went a few times.  He just happens to enjoy sitting as close to the hot fireplace as possible....

Oh my.

Marlo will get up on hands and knees and rock in place but he's not full on crawling (hands and knees) -- he's got the army scoot down so well... he can get around pretty darn quick.  And what does he want the most, and therefor go to the quickest??  Anjun's potty.  OR a very hot fireplace.  The latter we would have to take care of with some kind of fence/cage contraption if we weren't leaving for India in two weeks..

WHAT!?  TWO WEEKS and we're going to be in India... uh.... unreal.

And Anjun has recently had a crucial development.  He now:

1. can reach every door handle in the house
2. knows he can reach every door handle in the house
AND (perhaps the most important of the three realizations)
3. knows that by pulling down on said handle, he can get into whatever room he wants to go into.

Just like that!  No place is sacred anymore.  Now when I say "mommy's going to the bathroom, ALONE" that really just means, 'hey I'm going to go sit on the toilet and close the door, you wanna come and open it?'  You see he's reached door handles before...and even opened door before, but somehow suddenly NOW it's like, oh yeah, I can do that ALL THE TIME!

Preparations....

VISA pictures... no problem!

Let's just make our own, good camera... white background... internet program to help you line everything up... EASY!

Here it goes...

Anjun, we're going to take your picture, go stand by the wall....

ok, honey - no smiling

(which just made him smile more... of course)
ok, settled down, can you put your hand down honey..

and look at the camera...
(oh, right, the camera, let me get as close to it as possible)

nonono....then we start laughing
And so does he....

hysterically.....ok honey, can you close your mouth?
Lovely.  (he DID close his mouth... I'll give him that)

And on the last one, out of how many, we got it:
Then Marlos turn... oh boy.

Ok, let's try it with me holding him, white background...
good,

Hold him strait....
look at the camera Marlo..

Marlo...

Marlo.......
No dice.

Try laying him down..... not happy

Try again later, naked but who cares he's a baby!

He's in a good mood...although you can't tell by the first shot.
eyes open...please
um... ok, better, let's see if that works.
And then us too.. the flash is bright....
I don't recommend speaking while they're taking the pic..
OR laughing...
And my best, this is my 'let me into your country!' pic.

I think they'll like it.

And what did we end up doing?  Just going to a bloody shop and having them do it on the spot.  Despite the internet program to help, and printing your own at the store didn't have the exact dimensions.... and no one likes to send everything in for a visa and then your picture be off by a centimeter to delay the whole thing.

So, we let someone else do it.

But it was fun to try on our own.  Adventures and preparations for India.  Only 3 weeks!  oh my.

Marlo Video

Marlo now sits with us at the table while eating -insert sigh and 'oh the time goes so fast' statement here- and sometimes he makes this noise.

And it's so adorably cute.

I love it.

Holiday fun

Hope it's not too late for our Holiday blog.

Don't worry, I'm going to try and update the blog more this year.

 For real.

So, for now - we hope you all had a very happy holiday season. Ours was just busy enough, with enough sweets, family, friends, memories and good times to hold us over until next year.

Family photo thanks to the timer on the camera. Gotta love that thing.

Yeah, I made my own marzipan... organic, sugar free, dipped in chocolate.... man it was good.

We had Christmas eve here with some family and Christmas day at Sebas' parents house with more family... they also celebrate the second Christmas day here, but that was just us four at home

As was New Years, we made Raclette (see pic, it's like a burner/grill for the table top. Fun, but we needed more hands to help - it's quite some work with two small children.... but we enjoyed dinner and somehow made it to midnight. When the crazy fireworks began (literally every other house sets off fireworks for like 10-30 minutes. it's crazy)

We're beginning a new phase with our little family... getting to see the holidays through Anjuns eyes really brings some of the specialness back. It was such fun to see the two little ones (Anjun and his cousin) react to the decorated tree and gifts.

Next year we'll have a 3 and one and a half year old. wow.

We are so blessed.

Next blog I'll update you all more on our India trip. It's going to be an adventure for sure!
