Virtual Tour

So I'm finally getting around to showing a few pics of our new place...

We're starting with the adult section of the house. The whole thing is basically one long rectangle with sleeping rooms, kitchen/living room, hallway bathrooms, then on the other end an office/work room for us. That's what you're seeing here.

First pic is of the office/desk area. It's cool with a window above and space on the other side of the desk. As you can see there's a nice huge wooden beam that runs at about shoulder level (for those of us that aren't really tall) that cuts through the center of the room. Interesting. We love the exposed beams and all, but this one is a tiny bit funny to have to constantly duck under.

Then we've got the yoga/work/internet/hangout room next to the office space. This is, as the name just mentioned entails, the catch all room where we hang out, watch movies, do yoga, play or whatever. Yes, that's our Christmas tree in the foreground. It's still up :)

This is a really sweet little spot for the kiddos, or, heck, adults too. Above the kitchen/living room are nice wooden beams and above that is this little walkway and 'room'. If you come visit it could be your bedroom. See? It's big enough for a mattress and suitcase... you just have to get dressed while seated/lying. No problem right?

Then we have the living room/play room. Pretty cozy with the new wood burning stove Sebas installed (thanks mom and dad, perfect Christmas gift)... it's even almost ready to use... gotta get a few more pipes and checked out by an inspector. Next week we'll light her up for the first time. We're excited.

Then directly across from the living room is the kitchen/dining room. The kitchen is a work in progress, let's be honest, for probably the next 3... or 6 months. The basics are in but we really want to add some nice wooden cabinet doors, baseboards, shelves etc to make it nicer.

Otherwise we're back to our normal rhythm, sort of. Sebas came back from Canada Monday and has enjoyed this week off of work, but of course that means little projects at home and jumping into his school work. Then we'll get a normal rhythm next week with him going back to work and have to change it all again the following week when I go to school. Just a German class... well, officially an "integration" class that will teach me all I need to know to satisfy the German officials so I can stay in Germany.

Lots of good changes coming up, and lots of things to keep us busy and we sometimes admit it's a little too easy to forget that in just 5 months we'll have a new member of the family to welcome. The little bump in my belly is a good reminder though. And we can both feel her* moving now so that's exciting.

*ok, calm down calm down, we do NOT know the sex of the baby, no one likes to refer to their future son or daughter as "it" so we just say she, or maybe Marie... maybe it's a girl maybe not... we will see.

That's all for now folks!

'till next time

2012!? really?

Last week was both good and bad, had wonderful holidays with family but that was balanced with the loss of my Grandpa. Hard to be so far away from family to say the least... But it was a peaceful end for an amazing man who lived a long fruitful life. I will miss him.

For Christmas Eve we had Rucklette, a very typical holiday dinner here in Germany/Austria and maybe elsewhere as well. Remember the pics from last year? It's basically a table top broiler (turn the heat off as soon as guests arrive!). Super ful and you all have your own little tray to fill and top with cheese so you can make whatever you want!

See the broiler??? It gets the room/apartment quite warm... and if you cook meat on the top like a grill then smokey too :)

Sebas and I had a wonderful afternoon in Cologne before the crazyness of the holidays began. Christmas market, choir performance in the philharmonice orchestra hall in the City, Indian food... it was really really nice.

Oh, and Anjun ate his first meat. Basically an organic hot dog. Not proud but he wanted it.... so I gave it to him.... and he ate it... happily.

Anjun's first snow!!!! Only stuck around for a bit but I think he liked it. He really liked waving at it... and not so much walking through it... but pointing, waiving and touching were good. Hopefully we get more snow soon.

And now the big announcement, as you probably guessed we're expecting! Baby #2 will join the family in mid June and we couldn't be happier. We told Anjun and he seems to be cool with it :) He knows when I ask "where's the baby" to point at my belly... but otherwise he has no clue what's going on. It will be an adventure and we're more than up for it.

More details in the next post. Hopefully I'll be more 'regular' now (until the baby comes:)) Sebas goes to Canada for a week on Sunday, so just Mama and baby(s) for a week. We will miss him but he's beginning a journey of personal and professional development that he's very excited about. Can't wait to hear what the week brings him in Ottawa...

Bye for now and happy new year!!!
