Ode to Papa:

The candel holder Sebastian made for me for my birthday... I struggle using the words 'candel holder' because it fails to convey the beauty of this massive olive wood piece of art he created. Just for me...

They say mothers have a thankless job... but being blessed enough to be a stay at home mother I at least get lots of hugs, slobbery kisses and an uncountable number of smiles all day. Sure, there's ups and downs and it can be tough... but I know someone who deserves more thanks than he gets: Papa.

Sebastian is such an amazing father. I've gotten to see him grow and learn so much about family life these past months. I knew he would be a good dad, but he has superseded my expectations profoundly. Not only does he help with household things and baby, he's also a handy man, wonderful husband and gets up at 5:15am every week day to go to a job he doesn't like so we can support our family (he says "it's not SO bad" but I know deep down he doesn't enjoy the work and looses valuable sleep because of it).

Pics below observing Papa in the kitchen, above facinated with Papa's zipper.

I will never be able to express how thankful I am for everything he does. And just when I think I couldn't love him anymore I find myself even more taken by him than before. This past week was his first Fathers day - and a card, pancakes and gift (which he still has yet to receive thanks to my poor planning) just don't seem to do it. I'm a firm believer that every day should be fathers day, mothers day and valentines day combined. So I try so express appreciation and gratitude more for all the amazing people I have in my life.

Thank you Sebastian. Thank you for being an inspiring father, a loving husband and for making me want to be a better person. I love you.

Changes, Changes

Life is good at the Wedding household. We recently got the official word from Sebastians school in Canada, he's in! We pretty much knew he would be accepted, you have to get approval to apply for the final module - which he got while in the first module - and since then I was positive he would be accepted. But it's nice to know now it's 100% sure, we're going to Canada!! Now the question is when! More details to come on that later....

As you can see from the pics, there are quite a few things that change around the house when you have a baby. Little things that I didn't even think about or realize until they're right there, staring you in the face.

pics> car seat, baby carrier, and baby tooth brush! so cute...

Like laundry that always needs to be folded (especially since we do cloth diapers!) toys everywhere etc - we've also become painfully aware of the temperature and our mood is constantly dependant on Anjun... is he well rested, happy? tired? teething? when was the last poop? what should be the next food?

All comes with being a new family I suppose.

pic> messy apartment after just an hour or so of play....ugh

Other changes, a new bed for Anjun... re-arranging... and Anjun has a new voice for letting us know when he doesnt like something. He really getts a good scream out and arches his back and/or kicks... expressing himself more and more. AND starting to perfect going from sitting to hands and knees - which means... baby proofing the house soon!!!

pic> hey dad, I think the screw goes in there... Anjuns new bed being built

Anjun is now an expert eater, for now only once a day but next week we bump it up to two meals a day. So far I think the favorite was pear, and pumpkin was a hit too.

more pics of eating next time...

much love,
